Contests Progress Points System <-- New

Hey guys I'm starting to get really close to wrapping up the mobile 1.0 version of the websites and what's next? Contests! While I finish it up I figure we can get some discussions going.

In the end I would love to have a contest everyday but honestly that could take sometime. As mentioned in other threads we will be doing a Progress of the Month contest and I would also like to get some help to stay on top of the featured members section. I love AJ's articles.

Anyway to go along with contests we need some type of point system to go along with that. The first contests will most likely be automated for instance on the index page of the site you may have noticed the top 5 that changes daily. The top 5 for being a daily contest will be awarded points based on final standings. I want to get feed back from you as to other things members should get points for. I can give site related items away in exchange for points like stickers, tshirts, hats etc but hopefully vendors will come on board as well once it gets going.

These are some ideas I came up with of how members could receive points so far.

1. Posts
2. Updating Ride Profile
3. Uploading event coverage to the network wide gallery(when this is done)
4. When people thank a member for a posting good information
5. Submitting tech articles
6. Winning Daily Contests
7. Recruiting new members
8. Reporting spam, and posts that may need intervention.

Of course the number of points awarded will vary for each task.

Glad you guys like it. Also we probably need to come up with some ranks for people to achieve as they gain points. What would be some good names?

I have an idea for that. I don't know if any of you remember the game Halo 2 but a cool feature I liked was if you were the top rated player it would display the halo ring by your name. Maybe we can do something similar like if you have the most posts in the whole network you have some special symbol by your name so people know your status.
