York compressor

Postby Jchristian on Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:06 am

Hey guys i just picked up a york compressor today from a wrecking yard. From what i can tell everything seems to be working on it like the clutch ingauges and disengauges and everything spins freely. My question is. I was wondering if you guys have any pictures of the mounting brackets for your York compressor? And its my understanding that the yorks dont need an oiler or a water trap. Is this correct? And yes i have looked in the past posts and didnt find what i was looking for.

if you want to keep water out of your system you will need a water trap (thats for any brand or type of comp).
you do know that the factory sanden ac comp can be used to pump just as much if not more air as the york. might not last as long but are much easier and cleaner installed

yeah but with the stock compressor you have to worry about oiling then separating the oil. And with the york the oil is self contained. So that means that there would be less chance of human error. lol I was just wondering if ppl had pics of there setup. Trust me i have looked into both sides of running a EDC.

Here is some parts to help you get started http://www.illusivefabrications.com/htm ... ath=28_128 you will need a good water trap preferably as far from the compressor as possible to allow the air to condense and cool down before going into the trap. The water trap will also tend to accumulate oil blow by over time. So you need to keep an eye on your oil level. You can do the "oil mod" where you plug one of the bypass holes to reduce the blow by. There's write ups all over the net on that. Use a braided steel hose to help dissipate the heat from the compressor before it connects to anything else

Also make sure you have the York 210 compressor that is the best one to use and is the fastest to use as an edc. Be sure to check which port is the suction port, if it is angled or mounted on its side, the suction port needs to be on top.

oh okay.. I got my compressor mounted and have the belt on. The compressor pumps like heck. I just have to plumb it into my tank now and wire it in.
But the next question is how should i have it wired in? I could keep my viairs wired to my switch i have in there now and connect the edc to the same switch, and run both edc and the viairs at the same time. Or run a separate switch and relay just for the edc to keep the viairs as a backup.
So many opitions...

keep the viars as a back up as a seperate switch just incase. once you get the edc going you may not need them as much as you think
